How the Private Information Business Works?
Recent technological advances have created an unprecedented ability to collect, store, manipulate, and disseminate virtually an unlimited amount of data about people. Numerous companies have entered this business and are making billions of dollars selling information about people they compile. These companies assemble “digital dossiers” about individuals that may include a surprisingly broad range of information. Most people have no idea of the extent of this data collection. It can be challenging, if not impossible, for consumers to escape this collection of personal data.
You probably heard of sites such as Intelius or other similar sites. Most people see these sites when they search for someone on the internet. Such sites sell your public information. Most sites usually have your name, address, phone number, email, family members, criminal records and real estate you own. These sites are divided into two categories primary and secondary sites. Primary sites get you information from public records that are available. Secondary sites get and sell information made available on primary sites.
Where do these sites get their data?
These sites obtain their information from a large number of sources. These may include:
Government and public records such as court filings, real property and tax assessor records; court filings, recorded liens and mortgages, driver’s license records, motor vehicle records, voter registrations, telephone directories, real estate listings, birth, marriage, divorce and death records, professional license filings, recreational (hunting and fishing) licenses, and Census demographic information. Some states may restrict disclosure of some of this information.
Self-reported information directly from consumers through warranty cards, sweepstakes entries, contests, and surveys. This information may be provided by consumers either online or offline.
Social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and others may be used to gather information including consumers’ names, age, gender, location, colleges and universities attended.
Cooperative arrangements through which companies provide information about their customers in exchange for information to enhance their existing customer lists or identify new customers.
Purchase or licensing of information from other data brokers, retailers, and financial institutions. This may include consumers’ web browsing activities from online advertising networks, data about purchases from retailers, catalog companies and magazines, and data from websites where consumers register or log in to obtain services, such as retail, news, and travel sites.

What Personal Information is on these sites?
Data brokers collect a wide range of personal information about consumers. Much of this information is demographic in nature, and may include consumer names, their addresses (and previous addresses), telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, age and gender, family status (marital status and number and ages of children), Social Security numbers, religion, data about real estate owned, political affiliation, estimated income level, educational level, and occupation.
Some data brokers collect lists of people experiencing life event triggers such as getting married, having a baby, moving, buying a home, or getting divorced.
Other data brokers collect more specialized types of information including purchasing history (including automobiles owned), social media history, hobbies and interests, medical conditions, and payment methods used (credit cards and debit cards).
Is the Data on their Sites Accurate?
The short answer is probably not. These sites do not verify that the data they have collect is accurate.
What Databases and Sites is my Information Removed From?
We have carefully selected the top background check databases and websites to include in our service. These sites were selected over several years of monitoring the industry. These are the top 25 companies that provide background check information to employers as well as the other private companies and entities. These sites are referred to as our primary sites and we have included a representative list. However, we continually monitor the over 200 sites and frequently change or modify the sites that we include as our primary sites in order to provide you with the most comprehensive service possible.
Will this service remove or expunge the public record of my criminal case?
No. This service will not expunge or remove any public record or court record regarding your case. Nor does it change the legal status or disposition of your criminal case. This service is designed to remove your criminal record from private databases and websites that sell this information to third parties.
Will my criminal record be visible or come up on a background check after you complete this service?
This is the single most common question we are asked regarding our criminal record removal service. The honest answer is we just don’t know. We will remove your records from our included primary sites but when and who uses those sites are impossible for us to predict. Our services work differently for different people and different people get more benefit than other. Unfortunately, if you have a criminal conviction then your options are limited given the current state of the law so most people want to least do something to make their record less visible and less available.
How extensive is this service?
Currently, there are almost 25 million searches a month done on our 25 primary sites. No one can say for sure where someone will look for information on you but what we can say is that your information will not be available in 180,000,000 million searches a YEAR.
How Fast Can I Expect Results?
Each site and each database is different. Some will remove your information in a matter of days and some can take up to six weeks.
Will My Record Be Gone Forever?
The answer is yes or maybe. Your record will be removed but the world is constantly changing and new public records are generated every day. For example, you may move, buy a house, or register to vote. When new records are generated, then it is more likely that these sites will repost your information.
What listings are removed and how can I a certain entry is me?
As stated in our terms and conditions, we require that any listing on a website or database contain at least four (4) matching pieces of identifying information before we consider that entry yours. We will use our best judgement and do our best but often times there are multiple entries for with the same name for any given city. We will not remove every entry for John Smith in Dallas, Texas. We would remove an entry for a John C Smith in Dallas, Texas who was 44.
What information will you need from me to complete your services?
Also, as stated in our terms and conditions, we cannot begin working on your removal until you have provided us with all the requested information. Please promptly provide us all information such as your identification card or driver’s license within 7 days in order to avoid any delays in processing.
